Welcome to Week Eight!
Good job everyone that has made it to week 8! I can't believe it is already here. To be honest - I had SO much anxiety about doing this pattern as a QAL, mostly due to the HRT. But you guys have been amazing. I really can't thank you all enough for really latching on and participating so fully. It really has been such a huge bright spot in my spring to see new blocks pop up into my feed everyday. There are so many versions now that I am inspired by and want to recreate myself. So thank you! THANK YOU!
- Sew your quilt top together. Play with your block layout, decide your cornerstones and sew the top together.
- Post your final top to Instagram. Make sure you post your photos of your finished top to the #siennaburstqal hashtag by Sunday April 29th to be entered into a gigantic final giveaway.
Fabrics I am using:
Background Fabric : Kona White
My top is completed and I am soooo excited to get it quilted! I decided on using the Breeze (light Kona Blue) cross print as my cornerstones and I love how it gives a bit of a bright calming feel to the overall quilt. I am not sure what I will use for my backing or binding yet. I sewed my quilt top together during my son's preschool class one morning. And when I get narrowly focused, I just speed along and I was determined to finish the top before I had to get him. So... I didn't iron or pin anything while sewing the sashing and whole top together. haha! I have a couple puckers here and there but that is what dense quilting is for, right? ;)
Working with Blueberry Park 3 has been such a joy. I love that it is only two repeating patterns but in different background colors and printed design colors. There really is so much variety. The best part of Karen Lewis's fabric is that the fabric can stand on it's own but also can turn into the most seamless basic for all your projects. I can't wait to keep including her prints in future projects. The BP3 ships to stores soon, May!
Kaitlyn of Knot and Thread Designs is giving a special 20% off long arm discount to those who send her a quilt by June 30, 2018 and say in their sign up form, they participated in the Sienna Burst QAL. Also - this giveaway for this final week is a super fun, bundle of lots of goodies. Be sure to check your newsletter and the Instagram post.
Over the weekend, I took this quilt top to my parents house, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival and St Josef's winery. haha I could NOT get the outdoor photos I was looking for until the winery. They had this amazing blue warehouse and it was just in the shade enough to be perfect lighting. Also - the wind was insane yesterday but we found a couple good shots. I added a tulip photo but it's not that great ha.
Okay friends! Get sewing and don't forget to post to Instagram!
