Revive Bundle - Radiate

Revive Bundle - Radiate

Today we are looking at my Revive Bundle in a Radiate Quilt!
The Radiate Quilt pattern is available now in my shop! And the Revive Bundle is here and shipping to stores!
I really wanted to show the Revive Bundle in a larger size quilt so we decided on a twin size Radiate! We used 20 FQs and then 1/2 yard of the Carolina Gingham in 1/8" scale. The background is Kona White.
This Radiate sample was another one sewn up by Sarah! Praise her for all the help she gave me during our move of homes earlier this year.
Radiate is a fun block based quilt pattern. For the twin size quilt pattern, you cut all of the FQs the same and then mix and match the pieces to make the blocks.
You really can't go wrong with the mixing and matching part. This is partly what creates the "radiate" effect of the final quilt top.
All the blocks are assembled straight on and then they are rotated on point during assembly. Also, I give pressing instructions that nest all your block seams so it is really fun to match seams.
Once all the blocks are made and the smaller cornerstone pieces are made (the little gingham squares) then it's time to lay out the blocks. This is where some of your blocks will be cut in half or quarters to create the partial blocks on the perimeter of the quilt top.
The entire quilt top is sewn into diagonal rows with sashing instead of vertical and horizontal rows. I know it can seem confusing but just follow the diagram layout in the pattern and you will be gold!
The twin size quilt top finishes at 73" x 91". It was a big quilt to try and photograph on a wall in my house.
I made this quilt top with the idea of *maybe* using it for Everett's bed. I made him a special quilt about four years ago, which I still love but I wouldn't mind a newer one for his new room. We will see what happens - technically Robert Kaufman still has this quilt anyway! ha
For this quilt, I wanted some softer, rounded quilting. Radiate has a fun all over design but with all straight lines. I wanted the quilting to be opposite of that. I chatted with Kaitlyn about what I wanted and we choose Rolling Hills 2 for the design.
I bound this quilt in the same bright yellow in the bundle - Bright Idea. I love how it frames the quilt and ties in the yellow from the blocks.
I am so happy with how this one turned out. It feels bright and yet neutral to me. There are moments of calm and moments of joy in it.
The Radiate Quilt Pattern is available in my shop now!
