The Fall 2020 TCJ QAL will be here next month and we are making Nova Star! I knew when designing this pattern, it would be the perfect one to make during a QAL. So here we go, this blogpost will be full of information about the QAL.
Nova Star QAL
The Nova Star Quilt Pattern is my latest quilt release and a new modern star quilt. The designing process of this pattern was really fun. I wanted a traditional block, star design, lots of movement and a punch to the face! (A nice punch). The pattern itself is not hard but it is more tedious and sewing an accurate 1/4" seam allowance is essential to your success. Because of that, I have labeled this an Advanced Beginner/Intermediate pattern. The pattern is Fat Quarter, Half Yard, Yardage and scrap friendly! I will be sewing and promoting the Throw Size which finishes at appx 55" x 68" - feel free to make whatever size you'd like.
Dates: August 24th - October 19th
Duration: 9 Weeks Long
Quilt Size: Throw appx 55" x 68" (make what you'd like)
Schedule: This quilt is more time intensive than most of my patterns so that is why I am making it 9 weeks long. There is a catch up week near the end for those who fall behind. Also, I expect the time commitment weekly to be roughly 4-6 hours but everyone works at a different pace.
Week 1: We will talk about curating a color palette for Nova Star and the different design options/material requirements. If you don't already have your fabrics, you will order them this week so we can start cutting in Week 2.
Week 2: Cut the fabric, mix & match, and trim/make your first block.
Week 3: Sew 4 Blocks.
Week 4: Sew 4 Blocks.
Week 5: Sew 4 Blocks.
Week 6: Sew 4 Blocks.
Week 7: Catch up!
Week 8: Make final 3 blocks.
Week 9: Sashing + Assemble your quilt top!
