I am so excited to share with you the quilt I made for the Kona Cotton Color of the Year 2020 for Robert Kaufman! Say hello to Enchanted!

The second I saw this beautiful Emerald color, I knew I wanted to make one of my patterns that utilizes a lot of background fabric as part of the design. I instantly went towards my Starry Skies quilt because I could make Enchanted the focus while still having a fun modern take on a star quilt.

I made quite a few mock ups of different color combos until I landed on the one I was most excited about. I played with the idea of having the same exact stars all throughout, some monochromatic ones and then finally landed on different star points with all the same centers.

I was so excited to finalize the colors but also a little nerve-wracking because online swatches definitely look different in real life. Luckily, my friend Elise, at Robert Kaufman helped me with the visual aspect. She would pull the swatches for me at the office and send me a photo so I can see them in real life. It really helped me feel confident in my color choice.

When the colors arrived to my house, I was VERY happy. It is such a happy bundle of fabrics.

The colors I used are: Jade Green, Pickle, Wasabi, Cypress, Petal, Orangeade, Lingerie, Peach, Haze, White and Enchanted. This version of Starry Skies follows all the same material requirements EXCEPT for the center stars. You will need 3 1/2 yards of Enchanted, 1 yard (for center stars and binding) of Wasabi and then FQs of the rest of the colors.

This project was a very quick turn around so I didn't take any process photos until I had a finished quilt top. But good thing that the photos of the filmsy top are my favorite to take!

I shipped this baby off to Kaitlyn of Knot + Thread Designs. She is the kindest at doing quick turn arounds for me! We settled on straight line quilting so it doesn't take away from the colors or the design. And the texture of 1/2" straight lines is SO GOOD.

I took a few photos in my house once it was bound before I shipped it to LA.

I will note that I don't know if it was my light the days I took my photos but it was kinda hard to get a correct read on the color of Enchanted. Enchanted does read a little more tree green than teal green as it may read in my photos. But regardless, it is GORGEOUS.

Here is the flat lay that Robert Kaufman sent me!

I believe Enchanted to be shipping to stores now so keep an eye out at your local fabric store or your favorite online shop!
