I am excited to share with you guys this secret sewing project I did this spring! I made a really fun Paper Cuts quilt using a new line called Spring Shimmer by Jennifer Sampou. The line should be shipping to stores in November.
Spring Shimmer has 26 fabrics in the collection. It has a fun mix of some smaller repeating prints and a few larger scale prints. You can't miss the butterflies either! Here is the whole collection stacked.
For this scrappy Paper Cuts I ended up removing 5 prints and most of them were in the green color family. So here is the stack I ended up using.
And the butterflies are really fun and a larger scale print. They are the reason I chose Paper Cuts because you get to see more of them and they kind of float diagonally up the quilt.
I messed around with the fabric lay out a bit before starting to sew but once I had it locked down, it was cutting and sewing time. It was really fun sewing the columns come to life. Each one looks so different.
This quilt feels whimsical and care free. It was such a speedy and joyful quilt to put together. I loved seeing all the columns next to each other.
Soon enough, we had a quilt top! I used Kona White for the background fabric and used the Dark Navy print for binding. And the backing is Banana Pepper in Kona Cotton.
Quite a few of the prints have metallics in them and it really helps this quilt shrine and sparkle. Dare I say... Shimmer?!
I didn't have any tall humans around when I finished this quilt and it was a tight turn around. So, no full quilt photos until after it was all quilted and photographed. I sent this quilt to Kaitlyn of Knot & Thread. We used this really fun modern butterfly panto from Julie Hirt and it is perfect.
All of these photos Amy took make me so happy. It is always fun to see a quilt styled in a house and really what it would look like to "live" with a quilt.
