JOIN THE GHOST QUILT SEWALONG NOW

I am so excited for the Ghost Quilt Sewalong to start. This will be our second sewalong for The Modern Holiday Quilt Collection. All of the patterns included in our collection are beginner friendly and block based. They are pretty quick sews so the pace of this sewalong will be faster than usual. And how could someone NOT get excited for fall and Halloween when you are sewing up the cutest ghosts ever?!

The Ghost Quilt Pattern is a fun updated take on a Halloween quilt pattern. There are already so many cute pumpkin quilts out there so I decided to do something different and the ghosts were born. This pattern finishes at 62" x 64" which is a great throw size quilt.

The Ghost Quilt Sewalong will be five weeks long and super fun! The sewalong will be hosted on Instagram using the hashtags #ghostquiltsewalong and #modernholidayquilts, and you'll receive weekly newsletter emails sharing what is in store for that week. I also have decided to give you all more options too! This pattern is super versatile and I can't wait to see what everyone creates. Here are the other options I've made:

SCRAPPY GHOST BODIES

If you want to make all the ghosts have different colored bodies, easy peasy! 1 ghost body = (1) 2.5" x WOF strip.

SEVERAL DIFFERENT COLORED GHOST BODIES and SINGLE EYE AND MOUTH COLOR

If you want to use FQs for the ghost bodies, perfect! You can get 3 ghost bodies from 1 FQ. 25 ghosts = 9 FQs.

If you want to use all one color for the eyes and mouths, not a problem! You can use 1 FQ or (1) 1/8 yard (caution it needs to be exactly 4.5" x WOF wide).

ORIGINAL GHOST BODIES BUT UPDATED IDEAS

 TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

WEEK 1: Pick out your fabrics and cut all the pieces.

WEEK 2: Make 7 Ghost Blocks.

WEEK 3: Make 7 Ghost Blocks.

WEEK 4: Make 7 Ghost Blocks.

WEEK 5: Make 4 Ghost blocks and sew your top together!

WHAT I AM MAKING:

I am going to do several different colored ghost bodies - almost a combo of FQs and fully scrappy with just 2.5" x WOF strips. I also am going to do all the same mouth/eye color for my ghosts. Below is the fabric pull I am using - inspired by a post from Fabric Bubb. The background fabric is Essex Linen Crystal and it's metallic. I can't wait to see the shimmer!
