We're back to Barrett this week, introducing you to our newest pattern's samples, and today we would love to show off our Cover Girl, in all her coral glory. In case you missed it, you can go back and read about the Scrappy Green Barrett here, and the Scrappy Peach Barrett here. And grab your Barrett pattern here!
Now, here's our Cover Girl.

Our Barrett pattern takes two classic quilt blocks - the Nine Patch and the Snowball - puts color placement front and center and adds a fun Flying Geese Border for a modern take on a classic design. There are both Five Color and Two Color design options, and instructions for sewing with your stash, scraps, or yardage. You have seen examples of scrap/stash sewing in our two previous samples, but today we will show you an example of the Five Color design option, made with yardage.

Now, if you want a little peek behind the curtain, you should know that it wasn't always a done deal that what you see above you would be the cover quilt. There were quite a few options, but for Meghan, every part of the visual is important, down to how the image of the pattern cover will look on the website, in its order among our last few released patterns. So time was spent with all three of us gathered around the computer imagining every mock up on the website. Just so you know how much actual thought and work goes into every part of TCJ pattern creation. Below are four of the options that were considered for the cover quilt.

But what you see above in the bottom left corner is, in fact, what we landed on. Fabric A: Ruby + Bee Glow, Fabric B: Bella Cinnamon, Fabric C: Ruby + Bee Azalea, Fabric D: Bella Baby Blue, Fabric E: Bella Lt. Blue.

Barrett in general is a chain piecer's dream, but especially when working with yardage because every Nine Patch block is exactly the same and every Snowball block is exactly the same. Pick one to start with, pick your entertainment poison (are you a TV binge watcher or an audiobook listener?), and jump in.

Snowballs done, now time to jump into the Nine Patches.

Last element are the Flying Geese that will become your Flying Geese Border. Again, you'll chain piece your little heart out.

And done!

Once your elements are done, set your Flying Geese aside, and assemble the "guts" of your Barrett row by row, nesting your seams for easy sewing.

Now sew the rows together...

We're so close, but no reveal yet. We still have the Flying Geese Border to finish!

NOW it's time for the reveal. Here we go!

Barrett Cover was backed in Bella Amber and sent off to Ashley at Hen House Quilting for her finishing touches. Ashley quilted the Baptist Fan pantograph, from Sew Shabby Quilting, in a dusty pink thread. We got her back and bound her in Robert Kaufman's Carolina Gingham 1/4" Black and White.

Voila!

Of course we had to add one of our TCJ x Sarah Hearts Quilt Block Labels.

There she is! And we like her so much, our Cover Girl even inspired one of our new stickers. It's not an exact replica, but check out our new Barrett sticker:
